This snail may be small, but she's determined to see the world – so she hitches a lift on the tail of an enormous whale. It's an unlikely partnership, but when the whale gets into difficulties he discovers just how good a friend a snail can be . . .

I enjoyed doing the big landscapes. But had to take great liberties with scale and whale anatomy to make this work - I know they don't really bend like that. One child wrote in : why is the whale described as grey-blue, when it's all black in the book? I blame it on the editor - she should have noticed this discrepancy.
